April Ross
April Ross, a beach volleyball star American is part of a select category of females who have had medals won in multiple Olympics. Alix Klineman has become a brand new Olympian and is set to join her in Tokyo. Ross is determined to earn more than her first Olympic medal. It may well be that she has one opportunity, given that she is 39 years old. But she's convinced that top honors are firmly in reach. Ross said on NBC Boston: "If we perform our best and if we just play well, I think we could be able to win gold." So I'm going to take some luck too. Ross was a Californian born in the city of Costa Mesa in 1982. Her family lived in the area along with her parents and sister. She was able to participate in many activities at Newport Harbor High School. Her pre-athletic career comprised indoor volleyball as well as basketball as well as running and track. However, she was a standout in this sport. According to her bio, she played a middle blocker and outside volleyball player during her senior year at high school. The results of her efforts were acknowledged when she was named 1999 Gatorade's Circle Of Champions National players of the year. Her volleyball skills also brought her the Orange County Athlete of the Year award in 2000. Ross and Klineman might have started working together in 2017, but Ross had already been a seasoned volleyball player before they joined forces. In actual Ross has won a number of important tournaments throughout her career with two partners. One of them is a legend. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 through the year 2013. Kessy's teammate Ross, who won the world title alongside Kessy in 2009, also was a major force on an international level. They were awarded a silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings, the team of legends who won the 2012 Olympic Games in London, beat each other to take home the gold. It was fate that had them. Ross became Walsh Jennings' new partner when May-Treanor retired. Both went on to win the bronze beach volleyball trophy in the Rio Olympics 2016 with Walsh Jennings. Ross was a student athlete for USC Trojans before her pro career. She played during high school and in years prior to hitting the beach professionally. This was an impressive career for Ross in the school. In 2000 she was voted Pac-10 Freshman and NCAA Freshman Of The Year and an All-American. The Trojans made it to the Final Four. After her sophomore year, she experienced a terrible personal loss, yet earned the distinction of being an All-American. During her final two seasons in the Trojans in the program the team was led to victory by winning successive national titles. As an individual, she established herself as an all-time great by winning the 2003-2004 Honda Sports Award as the most outstanding female college volleyball player. Ross who was a USC international relations student, was a star in volleyball. Unfortunately Ross mother Margie did not get to see her daughter ascend to the top levels of beach volleyball superstardom. When Ross was in her sophomore year studying at USC her mother died of breast cancer. But, she will always hold her lost parent near and dear. Margie remains an inspiration both on and off of the beach.
